Neal McCluskey explains what the president’s speech to students has in common with new math and evolution: It’s something we fight over because taxpayers fund a single system of schools. One person’s inspirational message is another’s exploitative propaganda, just like one person’s sound instruction is another’s educational fad. Political discussions will be less shrill when we have a marketplace of diverse schools for everyone to choose from.
