Comparing Income Tax Liability Across States: Where Does Missouri Rank?

This essay addresses the question of whether Missouri is a low-income-tax state by comparing the income-tax liability for a family of four earning the national median income across all 50 states. Using this approach, we find that Missouri ranks in the top half of states according to income tax liability.
